Hey friends,
Here’s some new work to keep you occupied while I work on some new ones in the studio. Per my last post, I’ve been working on some new videos and I can’t wait to share them with you soon! Here’s some new paintings to keep things rolling.
First painting is another limited palette street scene painting for my evening students. “San Francisco Crosswalk” 9x12 oil on canvas.
The second is my revision of my plein air of the cherry blossoms at Red Wing park. This was a 16x20 and needed a second pass as I wasn’t feeling my best during the first session outdoors. “Cherry Blossoms” 16x20 oil on canvas. More happy with it now than last week.
The third painting is another practice I like to do myself sometimes and it really does help students progress on getting paintings done faster. This was painted using a single No.10 Filbert on a 9x12 canvas panel. I find this practice really helps with being forced to paint using simple shapes and then working towards what little detail you can implement with just that brush.
And below is another previous demo from two years ago that I did with the exact same premise of painting with the same single brush.
And here’s a throw back piece from way during my first Gloucester Plein Air Event. “Texaco” 18x24 plein air oil on panel.
Well folks that’s all I got before I hit the sack and get ready for a new day of painting!
