Well, we are three weeks away from Spring Forward and I am so ready for this cold to be gone! I have been very busy in the studio. Working on new paintings and prepping for additional modifications to the studio itself to get ready for my studio sale. I finally have a set up that allows me to work on both small and large paintings with an additional spot to work on small works. This will be a short one but here are some of the new works that I have for you.
This one was just not ready back when I first started it. I knew it could be more, but I just didn’t know how back then. “Last Stop” 24x36 oil on cradle board.
“Looking for a Midnight Ride” got a revision that was much needed compositionally. I had to step away from it and rethink how this could be better, and I knew it was the figure in the doorway was overly dominant. Moving the figure to the side and have them stand patiently waiting, made it so much better. It’s the little things that make the difference. Of course, I was able to get a better photo than what I had previously after tooling around with my light set up.
This is a work in progress. A small study, that I did for my students with using limited colors with water soluble oils. I feel a slightly larger painting would give space to make it better. It’s all about build and destroy, rinse and repeat. I’ve taken this one as far as it’s going to go, start fresh and go bigger.
Speaking of which, I am beginning work on new larger pieces. Most of them will be nocturnes. I am in need of local people who have vintage cars from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s that would be willing to donate time for me to shoot reference photos of their cars to be used in my paintings. If you know of someone that might be up for it, please pass along the word.
Last but not least, my painting class is quickly filling up, thank you all for spreading the word.
Wishing you all well!
